Abstract

Sposobnost ljudi da iskorištavanjem prirodnih resursa na industrijskoj razini poremete
klimatske trendove na cijelom svijetu više nije toliko nezamisliva. Sve je više primjera često
negativnih promjena bilo direktnim utjecajem na sastav atmosfere ili daljnjim problemima
koji proizlaze iz kaskade pratećih posljedica.
Utvrđeno je kako su mora i oceani također podložni znatnim promjenama u sklopu
recentnih klimatskih trendova i budućih predviđanja. Porast srednje temperature, morske
razine, kemijskih karakteristika očekivano se odražava i na biologiju samih marinskih
zajednica. Utvrdili smo kako ti utjecaji nisu više samo predviđanja budućih stanja već su dio
naše svakodnevice, a po nekim pretpostavkama ukoliko se nastave trenutni trendovi potrošnje
energije iz fosilnih goriva bez obzira na ekološke posljedice, budućnost bi mogla biti
neprepoznatljiva.
Moramo shvatiti da cijeli svijet funkcionira kao poluzatvoreni sustav u kojemu
antropogene promjene uzrokuju kaskadu događaja i da se oni mogu oduzeti našoj prividnoj
kontroli i sposobnosti predviđanja i sprječavanja posljedica.

Abstract (english)

Human ability to interfere with the natural climate trends by exploiting the natural
resources on an industrial scale is not so unthinkable any more. There are more and more
examples of negative changes either by direct influence on the atmospheric composition or by
consecutive problems arising from initial influence.
It is established that the seas and oceans are pervious to significant change due to
recent climate change and future predictions. Increase in mean water temperature, water level,
and changes in chemical composition is affecting marine biota. We have confirmed that these
negative influences are not just mere predictions of the future and by some estimates if the
modern trends of fossil fuel energy consumption continiues without any regard to ecological
impacts, we are facing an unrecognizable future.
We need to graps the notion that the world functions as a semi-close system in which
anthropogenic changes cause a cascade of events and that they can get out of our apparent
control and the ability to predict and prevent such events.
