Abstract

Morski gušter Synodus saurus (Linnaeues, 1758) relativno je rijetka vrsta u Jadranskom moru te su saznanja o biološkim značajkama dosta oskudna, shodno tome cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi osnovne biološke karakteristike ove vrste u Jadranu. Istraživanje je obavljeno na 119 jedinki prikupljenih većinom u hladnijem dijelu godine te je raspon ukupnih dužina tijela ulovljenih jedinki bio od 19,3 do 39,5 cm, a mase 49,96 do 460,12 g. Omjer mužjaka i ženki bio je 1:1,33. Srednje ukupne dužine tijela bile su statistički značajno veće kod ženki nego kod mužjaka, a određene razlike između mužjaka i ženki utvrđene su i kod nekih tjelesnih odnosa. Dužinsko – maseni rast bio je pozitivno alometrijski (b = 3,1314), a vrijednost indeks kondicije za ukupni uzorak iznosila je 0,79. Najveće vrijednosti gonadosomatskog indeksa za oba spola zabilježene su u srpnju te podaci sugeriraju da se mrijest odvija u ljetnim mjesecima. Najzastupljenije vrste pronađene u želudcima morskog guštera bile su srdela Sardina pilchardus i gira oblica Spicara smaris. U ukupnom obrađenom uzorku najzastupljenije su bile trogodišnje jedinke, a najstarijoj jedinki utvrđena je starost od 7 godina. Utvrđeni parametri rasta von Bertalanffy-jevog modela za ukupni uzorak iznose: L∞ = 42,28; K=0,189; t0 = -1,709; R2 = 0,736.

Abstract (english)

The Atlantic lizardfish Synodus saurus (Linnaeus, 1758) is relatively rare species in the Adriatic Sea and very little is known about its biological characteristics. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the basic biological characteristics of this species in the Adriatic Sea. The study was conducted on 119 individuals collected mostly in the colder period of the year and total body lengths of caught individuals raged from 19,3 to 39,5 cm and weighted from 49,96 to 460,12 g. Male to female ratio was 1:1,33. Mean total lengths of females were significantly larger than those of males. Differences in certain morphological proportions between males and females were also determined. Length-weight relationship was positively allometric (b = 3,1314), and the estimated condition factor for total sample was 0,79. The highest values of gonadosomatic index for both sexes were recorded in July, suggesting that spawning period takes place in the summer months. The most common species found in the stomach contents of the Atlantic lizardfish were European pilchard Sardina pilchardus and picarel Spicara smaris. In the total sample, majority of individuals were 3 years old while the oldest age determined for a individual was 7. Growth parameters determined using von Bertalanffy model were as follows: L∞ = 42,28; K=0,189; t0 = -1,709; R2 = 0,736.
