Abstract

Hrvatska je zemlja iznimno bogata šumama, a jedna od najznačajnijih je zajednica hrasta lužnjaka. Prekriva 68% površine Spačvanskog bazena, najveće cjelovite nizinske zajednice šuma hrasta lužnjaka u Europi. Zahvaljujući iznimnoj kvaliteti hrasta koja je svjetski prepoznata, šumarstvo i drvna industrija su od presudne važnosti za gospodarstvo Vukovarsko-srijemske županije. Područje bazena nalazi se u području zaštite Nature 2000 zbog velikog broja biljnih i životinjskih vrsta među kojima su i neke ugrožene. Danas se područje bazena susreće s mnogim problemima koji su klimatski i antropogeno uvjetovani, no pravi razlozi prekomjernog sušenja hrasta i spuštanje razine podzemne vode u bazenu znat će se tek u predstojećem razdoblju jer su za to zaslužno međudjelovanje mnogih čimbenika.

Abstract (english)

Croatia is a country extremely rich in forests, and one of the most important is the community of english oak. It covers 68% of the surface of the Spačva basin, the largest complete lowland community of oak forests in Europe. Thanks to the exceptional quality of oak, which is recognized worldwide, forestry and the wood industry are of crucial importance for the economy of the Vukovar-Srijem County. The basin area is located in the Nature 2000 protection area due to the large number of plant and animal species, some of which are endangered. Today, the basin area faces many problems that are climatically and anthropogenically conditioned, but the real reasons for the excessive drying of the oak and the lowering of the underground water level in the basin will be known only in the coming period, as it is due to the interaction of many factors.
