Abstract

Razred Insecta najveća je i najuspješnija skupina beskralješnjaka. Široku rasprostranjenost i zauzimanje gotovo svih ekoloških niša omogućila im je mogućnost prilagodbe na sve moguće uvjete. Neki pripadnici razreda kukaca razvili su i proizvodnju i lučenje otrova i toksina kao način obrane ili napada prilikom opasnosti, kroz čitav život ili u određenim stadijima životnog ciklusa. Otrovne porodice i otrovni rodovi dio su redova Hymenoptera, Coleoptera i Lepidoptera. Njihovi su otrovi i toksini predmet istraživanja zbog svog po život opasnog učinka na životinje i ljude. Razlog takvih istraživanja jest spoznaja mehanizama djelovanja navedenih prirodnih proizvoda s ciljem stvaranja djelotvornih protuotrova. Osim potencijalne opasnosti, istražuju se i pozitivni učinci istih otrova i toksina, njihovo analgetičko, antikancerogeno i antimikrobno djelovanje koje je od davnina poznato u tradicionalnoj medicini raznih naroda.

Abstract (english)

Class Insecta is the largest and the most successful group of invertebrates. The possibility to adapt to many different conditions enabled them the wide distribution and occupation of almost all ecological niches. Some members of insects have developed the production and secretion of venoms and toxins as a way of defence or attack in times of danger, throughout life or at certain stages of the life cycle. Venomous families and venomous genera are part of the orders Hymenoptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera. Their venoms and toxins are the subject of research because of their life-threatening effects on animals and humans. The cause of such research is to get to know the mechanisms of action of the mentioned natural products, with the aim of creating effective antidotes. In addition to the potential danger, the positive effects of the same venoms and toxins, their analgesic, anticancer and antimicrobial effects, which are known since ancient times in the traditional medicine of various nations, are also being investigated.
