Abstract
U ovom radu predstavljena je vrsta materijala koju nazivamo multiferoici. Specifičnost multiferoika je u tome da se u njima istovremeno javljaju magnetsko i električno uređenje. Stoga su prije svega razmatrane osnovne magnetske i električne pojave: magnetizam atoma, dijamagnetizam, paramagnetizam i feromagnetizam te pojava polarizacije. Vezanje između električnih i magnetskih polja u materijalima ili magnetoelektrični efekt izvor je multiferoičnog uređenja. U takvom materijalu se bez prisutnosti vanjskog električnog i magnetskog polja javljaju feromagnetizam, feroelektričnost i/ili feroelastičnost. Različita uređenja posljedica su različitih uzroka te prema njima razlikujemo vrste multiferoika, opisane u ovom radu. Kao jedna od mogućih primjena multiferoika u tehnologiji ističe se spintronika. Upotreba multiferočnih materijala u spintroničkim sklopovima je budućnost računalne tehnologije te predstavlja uzbudljivo područje istraživanja.

Parallel abstract (English)
The topic of this thesis is a class of materials called multiferroics. Multiferroics are materials that simultaneously exhibit magnetic and electric order. We begin with introducing basic magnetic and electric properties: magnetism in atoms, diamagnetism, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism and electric polarization. The cause of multiferroic order is coupling between electric and magnetic fields in materials, also called magnetoelectric effect. In such materials two or all three of ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity occur in the same phase without external magnetic or electric field present. Types of multiferroics are classified by different orders and their causes, which are presented in this work. One possible application of multiferroics in technology is spintronics. We discuss some possibilities of multiferroic use in spintronics, since it is the future of computing technology.
