Ljekovita svojstva, otrovnost i ekonomska važnost golosjemenjača

Abstract

Golosjemenjače su skupina drvenastih biljaka koja se sastoji od oko 800 vrsta. Najveća i najpoznatija skupina golosjemenjača su igličaste golosjemenjače ili četinjače (podrazred Pinidae). Cvjetovi golosjemenjača su jednospolni na jednodomnim ili dvodomnim biljkama. Sporofit golosjemenjača je dominantna faza u izmjeni generacija. Među golosjemenjačama pronađene su najviše (Sequoia sempervirens (D.Don) Endl.), najmasivnije (Sequoiadendron giganteum (Lindl.) J. Buchh.) i najstarije danas živuće biljke (Pinus longaeva D.K. Bailey). Biljne stanice golosjemenjača sadrže velik broj kemijskih spojeva. Najpoznatiji biljni spojevi golosjemenjača su alkaloidi, flavonoidi, glikozidi, tanini, terpeni. To su sekundarni spojevi metabolizma, što znači da nisu nužni za preživljavanje same stanice, ali su važni za preživljavanje i prilagođavanje cijelog organizma na raznoliki okoliš. Najveća ekonomska važnost golosjemenjača je njihova uporaba u industriji papira, građevinskog materijala te u industriji namještaja. Neke od svjetski važnih otrovnih, ljekovitih, ekonomski važnih vrsta golosjemenjača su Cycas revoluta Thunb., Ginko biloba L., Ephedra sp., Taxus sp. te Pinus strobus. Dok se Ephedra sp., Taxus sp., Cycas revoluta Thunb. ističu svojom ljekovitošću i otrovnošću, Ginko biloba L. poznat je isključivo po svojoj ljekovitosti, dugovječnosi i hortikulturnom značaju. Pinus strobus ističe se kao jedno od ekonomski najvrjednijih crnogoričnih stabala na području istočnog dijela Sjeverne Amerike.

Abstract (english)

The gymnosperms are a group of woody plants that contains about 800 different species. The biggest and most famous group of the gymnosperms are conifers (subclass Pinidae). Flowers of the gymnosperms are monosexual on monoecious or dioecious. The gymnosperm's principal generation phase is sporophyte. The tallest (Sequoia sempervirens (D.Don) Endl.), most massive (Sequoiadendron giganteum (Lindl.) J.Buchh) and the oldest (Pinus longaeva D.K. Bailey) plants on Earth are the ones from group of the gymnosperms. Cells of the gymnosperms contain a great number of chemical compounds. The most famous chemical compounds found in the gymnosperms are alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, tannins and terpenes. Those are secundary compounds of plant metabolism, which means that they are not essential for life of plant cells. However, secundary compounds are essential for survival and adjustments of the plant on different environmental conditions. The greatest economical importance of the gymnosperms is their use in paper industry, furniture industry and their use as building material. Some of the world’s most important poisonous, healing and economicaly important species of the gymnosperms are Cycas revoluta Thunb., Ginko biloba L., Ephedra sp., Taxus sp. and Pinus strobus. While Ephedra sp., Taxus sp. and Cycas revoluta Thunb. are known for their poisonous and healing benefits, Ginko biloba L. is famous for its medical use, endurance and horticultural value. Pinus strobus is one of the economically most valuable conifer trees of eastern part of Northern America.
