Abstract
Flavonoidi pokazuju izrazito širok spektar primjene u liječenju autoimunih bolesti. Propolis i ostali flavonoidi koji se koriste kao dodatak prehrani imaju anti-upalne karakteristike i sprječavaju nastanak komplikacija vezanih uz dijabetes poput kardiovaskularnih bolesti ili bolesti bubrega. Njihov anti-alergijski efekt proizlazi iz sposobnosti da inhibiraju otpuštanje histamina na način da utječu na same enzime ili na stabilizaciju membrane stanica koje imaju ulogu u alergijskim reakcijama. Anti-infekcijski učinak im omogućava sprječavanje komplikacija koje uzrokuju autoimune bolesti i bolesti uzrokovane oksidativnim stresom.
Abstract (english)
Flavonoids have a wide range of use in treating autoimmune diseases. Propolis and other flavonoids that are used as dietary supplements have anti-inflammatory characteristics and they prevent complications in diabetes such as cardiovascular or renal diseases. Their anti-allergic effect comes from their ability to inhibit histamine release by inhibiting the enzymes or by stabilizing cell membrane. Anti-infective effect enables them to prevent complications in other autoimmune diseases and diseases that have been caused by oxidative stress.
