Abstract

Čovječja ribica je stenoendemski stigobiont Dinarida. Ujedno je i jedini stigobiontski kralježnjak Europe. U potpunosti se prilagodila surovim i stresnim uvjetima života u podzemlju. Na području Hrvatske postoje tri odvojene populacije čovječje ribice , a to su: istarska populacija, populacija Gorskog kotra i sjevernog dijela Like te populacija Dalmacije. U ovom radu nalazi se pregled lokaliteta u Hrvatskoj gdje je pronađena čovječja ribica te detaljan opis po nekoliko staništa iz svake populacija. Čovječju ribicu pronalazimo u špiljama i jama u kojima postoji vodeni tok ili podzemno jezero. Jedinke više obitavaju u mirnijim podzemnim jezerima nego tamo gdje je protok vode jak. Voda staništa je čista i pitka, a njena temperatura kreće se od 5 °C što je minimalna zabilježena temperatura svih staništa ( u Rokinoj bezdani) do 14 °C u Pincinovoj jami.

Abstract (english)

Olm is a steno-endemic stygobiont of Dinaric Alps. It is the only stygobiont vertebrate in Europe. It is completely adapted to the cruel and rough environment of the underground. There are three seperate populations of the Olm inhabiting Croatian areas which are located in Istria, Gorski Kotar with northern part of Lika and Dalmatia. The paper contains list of location inhabited by Olm in Croatia and reviews selected locations from the inhabited areas. The Olm is found in caves and pits which are filled with water. Individual Olms prefer more to be in calm underground lakes rather than torrents or streams of water. Water is clear and drinkable with a temperature of 5 °C (lowest recorded in cave Rokina Bezdana) and up to 14 °C which was recorded in the pit Pincina jama.
