Abstract

Bjelovar je jedan od najmlađih hrvatskih gradova. Nastao je u posebnim historijsko- geografskim okolnostima, za vrijeme Vojne krajine. Od osnutka pa sve do osamostaljenja Hrvatske, njegova socio-prostorna struktura doživjela je znatne promjene, ovisno o društveno-političkim organizacijama u kojima se nalazio. U najranijoj fazi razvoja socio-prostorna struktura obilježena je dominatno vojnim funkcijama, a stanovništvo podređeno vojnim potrebama. Ukidanjem Vojne krajine i uključivanjem Bjelovara u sastav civilne Hrvatske počinje nova era razvoja grada i njegove socio-prostorne strukture. Dolaskom željeznice dolazi i do znatnijeg razvoja gospodarstva. Konstantno mijenjajući izgled socio-prostorne strukture, prošao je dug put od važne vojnokrajiške utvrde do modernog srednjoeuropskog grada.

Abstract (english)

Bjelovar is one of the youngest croatian cities. It was founded in special historical and geographical circumstances, during the Military Border. From the establishment until Croatian independence, its socio-spatial structure has undergone significant changes, depending on the socio-political organizations in which he was find. In the earliest stage of development socio-spatial structure is characterized by the dominant military functions, and population subjected to military needs. Abolition of the Military Border and inclusion of Bjelovar in the composition of the civil Croatia begins a new era of city development and its socio-spatial structure. With the arrival of the railway comes to a considerable development of the economy. Constantly changing the look of the socio-spatial structure, he passed long way from important Military Border fort to modern Central European city.
