Abstract

U radu je provedeno istraživanje suvremenih prostornih obilježja otoka Paga koje je temeljeno na sistematskoj analizi demografskih struktura. Većinu državnog teritorija karakteriziraju negativni demografski trendovi, međutim Pag kao jedan od najnaseljenijih hrvatskih otoka, iznimno bilježi porast broja stanovništva. Otok karakterizira intenzivan razvoj turističke djelatnosti što se izravno odražava na suvremene socioekonomske strukture. Turizam zauzima sve veći udio u ukupnom udjelu po sektorima djelatnosti čime dolazi do potiskivanja tradicionalnih otočnih djelatnosti na kojima se tijekom prošlosti baziralo paško gospodarstvo. Temeljni cilj rada je utvrditi prostorne čimbenike koji su uzrok aktualnim demografskim procesima, objasniti prostorni razmještaj naselja te trendove i dinamiku mehaničkog kretanja stanovništva.

Abstract (english)

The research has concentrated on landscape characteristics of the island of Pag based on systemic analyses of demographic structures. Most of the territory of the Republic of Croatia is influenced by negative demographic trends, but the island of Pag as one of the most populated island, has exceptionally high increase of population. The island is under influence of intense touristic service development which has impacted modern socioeconomic structures. Tourism is major economic sector of the island and slowly wiping out traditional island economic sectors which use to be basis for the economy of the island of Pag. The aim of the research is to determine landscape indicators which have driven actual demographic processes, and explain landscape organization of smaller towns, their allocation and trends of population migrations.
