Abstract

U svakom pokušaju održavanja ili rehabilitacije rijeke zbog biodiverziteta riba, potrebno je uzeti u obzir potrebe riba za prikladnim staništima. Kao osnovno pravilo, potrebe riba za prikladnim staništima su zadovoljene kompleksnom strukturom staništa i biološkom povezanošću. Na svakom specifičnim području, struktura zajednice riba u rijeci ovise o integritetu longitudinalne povezanosti riječnog sustava. Potrebe različitih vrsta riba u različitim stadijima životnog ciklusa za prikladnim staništima su prilično različite. Kako bi preživjeli, potočne ribe i ribe koje borave u rijeci prolaze kroz kompleksne cikluse disperzije i migracije. One migriraju između tri glavna staništa: staništa u kojima borave zimi; staništa u kojima se hrane; i staništa u kojima se mrijeste (Slika 2.). Kako bi mogli izgraditi pogled na zajednice riba kroz samo stanište, važno je shvatiti njihove specifične potrebe ali i biološku povezanost staništa. Funkcionalna jedinica riblje zajednice obuhvaća mrijest, hranjenje, rast i područja u kojima imaju zaštitu i sigurnost (Slika 1.), a sve to je povezano na razne načine sa raznim okolišnim čimbenicima. Kompleksna struktura staništa je moguća uz intenzivne interakcije između riječnog kanala i pripadajućeg okoliša. Krupni ostaci drveća stvaraju i održavaju mikrostaništa te područja smanjene brzine rijeke, koja služe kao skloništa ribama tijekom zime i za vrijeme povećanog protoka rijeke. Kompleksna struktura staništa je jako bitna, te ima veliki utjecaj na šaranke te na ostale rodove krupnih vrsta riba.

Abstract (english)

Habirat requirements of fish have to be considered in any effort to maintain or rehabilitate rivers for fish biodiversity. As a general rule, habitat requirements are satisfied by complex habitat structure and biological conectivity. At each specific site, the fish communitiy structure of a river depends on the integritiy on the longitudinal connectivity of the system. The habitat requirements for different fish species, but also for different for different stages in the life cycle of any one species, are quite divergent. To survive, stream and river dwelling species undergo complex cycles of dispersion and migration. They migrate between three major habitats: wintering habitat; feeding habitat; and spawning habitat (Slika 2.). A need for understanding the specific requirements and the biological connectivity is important for developing a habitat – centred view of fish communities. In this context, a functional unit includes spawning, feednig, nursery (growth) and resting (self protection) areas (Slika 1.), each of which is linked in various ways with environmental features. Complex habitat structure is provoded by intensive interactions between the river channel and its adjacent environment. Coarse woody debis creates and maintains microhabitat and areas of reduced stream velocitiy that serve as shelter which is essential to fish during winter and high flow situations. The complex habitat structure is very important, and has broad influence on cyprinids and other genera of coarse fish.
