Abstract
Iako su još uvijek dosta oprečna mišljenja o CDu i njegovom utjecaju na vrste, smatra se bitnim uzrokom adaptivne raznolikosti. Često se naziva „najbolje u najgoroj situaciji“ jer unatoč smanjenju kompeticije, smanjuje fitnes dotične populacije (u usporedbi sa „originalnom“ populacijom u alopatriji). Postoji pregršt starijih radova koji opisuju CD sa morfološkog stajališta, ali vrlo malo onih kojih su to i na molekularnom nivou ispitali, no vjerojatno će budućnost ići u ovom smjeru i rasvijetliti mnoge nedoumice.
Abstract (english)
Even though there are still opposite views on CD and its effect on species, it is considered one of the major causes of adaptive divergence. Often it is called “the best of a bad situation”, because at the cost of generating fitness trade-offs, it reduces competition between two sympatric populations. There is a plethora of older articles describing character displacement from a morphological point of view, but very few from a molecular perspective. Perhaps the future will go in this direction and illuminate many of today's dilemmas.
