Abstract

Imunologija je znanost koja proučava imunost (lat. immunitas - otpornost) tj. sposobnost organizma da se odupre djelovanju stranih tvari (antigena). Imunološki sustav je građen od organa i stanica razmještenih po cijelom tijelu. Organi imunološkog sustava još se nazivaju i limfni organi. Limfni organi su strukture u kojima nastaju i sazrijevaju limfociti. Limfne organe možemo podijeliti na primarne (središnje) i sekundarne (periferne). Primarni organi su timus i koštana srž te Fabriciusova burza kod ptica, a u sekundarne organe ubrajaju se limfni čvorovi, slezena i limfno tkivo pridruženo sluznicama. Stanice prisutne u imunološkom sustavu su limfociti kod kojih razlikujemo T i B-limfociti i NK stanice, fagociti i dendritičke stanice. Imunološki sustav kralježnjaka razlikuje se ovisno o filogenetskom razvoju. Ribe imaju najjednostavniji imunološki sustav. Sisavci koji su evolucijski najrazvijenija skupina kralježnjaka imaju i najrazvijeniji imunološki sustav.

Abstract (english)

Immunology is the science that studies immunity (lat. immunitas - resistance), that is the body's ability to resist the effects of foreign substances (antigens). Immune system is composed of organs and cells dispersed throughout the body. The organs of the immune system also can be called lymphoid organs. Lymphoid organs are structures which emerge and mature lymphocytes. Lymphoid organs can be divided into primary (central) and secondary (peripheral). The primary organs are the thymus and bone marrow, and bursa of Fabricius in birds, secondary organs include the lymph nodes, spleen and lymph tissue associated with mucous membranes. Cells present in the immune system are lymphocites in which we distinguish T and B-lymphocytes and NK cells, phagocytes and dendritic cells. Vertebrate immune system differs depending on the phylogenetic development. Fish have the most simplest immune system. Mammals that are evolutionarily the most developed group of vertebrates have the most developed immune system.
