Abstract

Dobri dupin (Tursiops truncatus) je jedina rezidentna vrsta kitova u Jadranu. Studije o prehrani dobrih dupina navode ih kao oportuniste koji se hrane ribom, glavonošcima i rakovima, ovisno o dostupnosti i brojnosti. Analiziran je sadržaj 9 želudaca uginulih jedinki pronađenih u razdoblju 1.1.2006. – 31.12.2008. na širem području Cresko-Lošinjskog akvatorija. Identifikacija plijena temeljena je na morfološkim razlikama ribljih otolita i čeljusti glavonožaca pronađenih u želucima. Za potrebe istraživanja izrađen je katalog referenci koji je olakšao analizu i smanjio mogućnost pogrešne identifikacije plijena. Cilj istraživanja bio je odrediti kojim se vrstama dobri dupini na ovom području hrane. Utvrđeno je da se hrane ribom i glavonošcima iz svih vodenih slojeva. Na razini porodice riba najbrojnije su ljuskavke (Sparidae), a najbrojnija vrsta je oslić (Merluccius merluccius). Najbrojniji red glavonožaca su Octopoda i Teuthoidea. Ovi podaci slični su rezultatima drugih studija o prehrambenim navikama ove vrste u Sredozemnom moru.

Abstract (english)

Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) are the only regular component of the Adriatic Sea cetacean fauna. They are opportunistic feeders, consuming fish, cephalopods and crustaceans depending on abundance and ability. Stomach content of 9 bottlenose dolphins stranded in the period 1.1.2006 – 31.12.2008 in Cres-Lošinj archipelago were analyzed. Identification of the prey was based on the morphological differences of sagittal otoliths of teleost fish and Cephalopod beaks present inside the stomachs. A reference catalogue was made for purpose of this study, which facilitated analysis and reduced the possibility of misidentification of prey. The aim of the study was to determine on which prey species dolphins of this area feed. The prey inhabits all water layers. On the family level most numerous fish are Sparidae,and the most abundant species is hake (Merluccius merluccius). The most numerous Cephalopod orders are Octopoda and Teuthoidea. These data are consistent with results of other studies on diet habits of this species in the Mediterranean Sea.
