Abstract

U ovoj disertaciji izloženo je istraživanje iz područja teorije dizajna. Pri konstrukciji dizajna koristimo permutacijske grupe za koje pretpostavljamo da djeluju tranzitivno po točkama i blokovima traženog dizajna. Istražujemo posebno one dizajne koji imaju grupu automorfizama koja djeluje tranzitivno po incidencijama. Elementarna podjela tranzitivnih grupa je na primitivne i imprimitivne pa s obzirom na djelovanje po točkama razlikujemo primitivne i imprimitivne dizajne s obzirom na danu grupu automorfizama. U radu su konstruirani i popisani svi primitivni dizajni tranzitivni po incidencijama koji imaju do 30 točaka. Nadalje, među imprimitivnim dizajnima, potraženi su oni simetrični i tranzitivni po incidencijama kojima je parametar \(\lambda\) manji ili jednak 10. Ključni teorem u toj potrazi dali su Praeger i Zhou u [18] pri čemu su ograničili izbor parametara takvih dizajna. U ovom radu istraživani su dosad neistraženi slučajevi. Za dani imprimitivni dizajn i sustav imprimitivnosti grupe automorfizama definiramo kvocijentni dizajn te poddizajn s obzirom na blok imprimitivnosti danog sustava. Neegzistencija jednog od njih povlači i neegzistenciju traženog imprimitivnog dizajna. Također, razvijena je teorija pomoću koje se analiziraju i eliminiraju neki od preostalih slučajeva. Pritom je korištena teorija permutacijskih grupa, proširenja grupa te njihovih linearnih reprezentacija nad konačnim poljima. Pri konstrukciji dizajna i analizi pojedinih slučajeva korištena je podrška programskog paketa MAGMA [3] te su dani i algoritmi uz pomoć kojih je ta konstrukcija odnosno analiza provedena.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis, research in the field of design theory is presented. For the construction of designs we use permutation groups that we assume are transitive on points and blocks of the required design. Specifically, we investigated those designs that have a group of automorphisms that is flag-transitive. Among transitive groups we distinguish primitive and imprimitive ones, and depending on the action on points we distinguish primitive and imprimitive designs with respect to the given group of automorphisms. All flag-transitive primitive designs with up to 30 points have been constructed and listed. Furthermore, among imprimitive designs, we looked for the symmetric flag-transitive ones when parameter \(\lambda\) is less than or equal to 10. The key theorem in this quest was given by Praeger and Zhou in [18], limiting the choice of parameters of such designs. In this thesis, we provide insight into the previously unexplored cases. For the given imprimitive design and system of imprimitivity of the group of automorphisms, we define the quotient design and subdesign with respect to the block of imprimitivity of the given system. The non-existence of one of them entails the non-existence of the required imprimitive design. Furthermore, we developed a theory to analyze and eliminate some of the remaining cases. Theory of permutation groups, group extensions and their linear representations on finite fields was used. For constructing and analyzing certain cases, the support of the MAGMA software package [3] was used, and the algorithms with which the construction or analysis was carried out are given.
