Abstract

Matične stanice jedno su od najplodonosnijih područja u znanosti zbog svojih velikih mogućnosti i primjene u napretku čovječanstva u borbi s različitim oblicima bolesti. Embrionalne matične stanice zbog svog pluripotentnog potencijala postale su velik izazov u znanstvenim krugovima. Utjecaj unutrašnjih i vanjskih čimbenika od okoliša preko različitih transkripcijskih faktora na ES stanice od fundamentalne je važnosti za nova istraživanja. Jedan od najvažnijih čimbenika je otkriti u potpunosti mehanizam funkcioniranja transkripcijskih faktora koji utječu na pluripotentnost ES stanica. Otkrićem funkcioniranja tih mehanizama došlo bi se do otkrića funkcioniranja i različitih bolesti koje ovise o pluripotentnosti stanica i greškama koje se događaju na staničnoj razini. Sve te mogućnosti vode k jednom cilju: napretku čovječanstva. Razvojem na polju ES stanica povećava se broj mogućnosti za različite vrste liječenja i borbu protiv najokrutnijih bolesti današnjice poput karcinoma, leukemija, bolesti krvožilnog sustava.

Abstract (english)

Stem cells are one of the most rewarding fields in science because of their large potential and benefit to the mankind in curing various types of diseases. Due to their pluripotent potential, embryonic stem cells became very interesting for scientists. The influence of inner and outer factors like environment or different transcription factors on ES cells holds significant importance for the future research. One of the most important factors is to discover how does the mechanism of transcription affect the pluripotency of an ES cell. Discovery of those mechanisms would lead to a discovery of the way in which different diseases manifest which are directly connected to pluripotency. Errors which happen on a cell level could also be explained. By expanding the knowledge on ES cells, the possibilities in discovering new types of medicine would also be expanded. Some of the mankind’s currently most notorious diseases like cancer, leukaemia or bloodstream diseases could easily be cured.
