Abstract

U istraživačkom dijelu opisane su kristalne i molekulske strukture tetra-μ-2-klor-5-nitrobenzoato-κ8O:O'-bis(akva)bakra(II)] i njegovog kokristala s tetra-μ-2-klor-5-nitrobenzoato-κ8O:O'-bis(metanol)bakrom(II)]. Monokristalni uzorci dobiveni su hlapljenjem metanolnih i vodenih otopina. Oba spoja, kristaliziraju u triklinskom sustavu. U oba kristala apikalno vezani ligandi vodikovim vezama povezuju paddlewheelske molekule u lančaste polimere koji se usporedno naslaguju u motivu patentnog zatvarača. Međusobna orijentacija paddlwheelskih molekula, opisana kutom koji zatvaraju njihove apikalne osi, bliska je kutu od 60°. Ovakav prostorni odnos čest je i kod srodnih bakrovih(II) paddlewheela te potencijalno može biti sintonski element za supramolekulske sinteze.
Metodički dio bavi se mogućom uporabom kemije mangana u nastavi kemije. Analizirani su osnovnoškolski i srednjoškolski nastavni programi kemije, fizike i biologije i prepoznate nastavne teme u kojima je moguće integrirati znanja nastavnih predmeta izučavanjem kemijskih svojstava mangana. Osmišljen je 90-minutni nastavni sat utemeljen na strategiji učenja otkrivanjem te jednostavnim i jeftinim pokusima i nastavnim materijalima.

Abstract (english)

Thesis deals with crystal and molecular structures of tetra-μ-2-chlor-5-nitrobenzoato-κ8O:O'-
bis(aqua)copper(II) and its cocrystal with tetra-μ-2-chlor-5-nitrobenzoato-κ8O:O'-
bis(methanol)copper(II). Single crystals were obtained by slow evaporation of methanol and
aqueous solutions containing starting compounds. Both compounds are triclinic. Apical ligands
connect paddlewheels into polymeric rods by hydrogen bonds. Molecular rods are stacked
together with their protruding benzoato moieties organized in a zipper mode. Mutual orientation
of paddlewheels defined by the angle between their apical axes is close to 60°. Such spatial
orientation is common to analogous copper(II) paddlewheel compounds and might be used as
synthone element in supramolecular synthesis.
Methodical part deals with potential use of mangane chemistry in chemistry education. Primary
and highschool syllabuses of chemistry, physics and biology were analyzed to identify parts in
which integration of knowledge might be achieved throught mangane chemistry. A 90-minute
lesson based on inquiry learning strategy was proposed that should serve as a template for
inclusion of mangane chemistry into the chemistry teaching practice. Experiments and teaching
materials are simple, cheap and available.
