Abstract

Proučavanje ponašanja životinja mlada je znanstvena grana, te se još uvijek istražuju mehanizmi koji dovode do različitih reakcija jedinki na iste ili slične okolišne uvjete. Ovaj rad sumira terminologiju o temperamentu i osobnosti, predstavlja četiri često korištena bihevioralna testa te prezentira metode i rezultate višemjesečnih istraživanja na tri podvrste kućnih miševa (Mus musculus). Kako bismo testirali razlike između podvrsta, miševe smo podvrgnuli standardiziranim testovima ponašanja, s idejom da će, s obzirom na svoju ekologiju i okolinu, te evolucijsku dužinu suživota s ljudima oni pokazati drugačije reakcije i temperament na tim testovima. Rezultati su pokazali da su podvrste miševa, usprkos dugom nizu generacija uzgojenih u laboratorijskim uvjetima, uistinu međusobno izuzetno različite te ostaje otkrivati i dalje produbljivati načine razvoja kompleksnih kralježnjaka – glodavaca, što će nam sigurno pomoći objasniti razvoj te ponašanje samih ljudi.

Abstract (english)

The study of animal behavior is a young branch of science. The mechanisms that lead to different reactions of individuals to the same or similar environmental conditions are still being explored. This paper summarizes the terminology of temperament and personality, presents the four commonly used behavioral tests, and also presents methods and the results of research of the three subspecies of house mice (Mus musculus). To examine the differences between the subspecies, we subjected the mice to standardized behavioral tests, with the idea that they, given their ecology and environment, and the evolutionary length of coexistence with humans, would show different reactions and temperaments on these tests. The results showed that the subspecies of mice, despite a long series of generations bred in the laboratory, are indeed extremely different from each other, and it remains to discover and deepen the knowledge and the development of complex vertebrates - rodents, which will certainly help explain human development and behavior as well.
