Abstract

Reproduktivno kloniranje tehnika je kojom se jezgra jedne stanice transplantira u drugu stanicu, kojoj je prethodno uklonjena jezgra, te iz koje se može potaknuti embrionalni razvoj. Krajnji cilj reproduktivnog kloniranja je dobiti organizam koji je genetički istovjetan organizmu, tj. stanici iz koje je transplantirana jezgra. Kroz povijest koristilo se kao alat proučavanja staničnih procesa povezanih uz diobe, epigenetičkih promjena, staničnog starenja te potencijala genetičkog materijala da upravlja uspješnim embrionalnim razvojem. Danas glavnu uporabu ima većinom u komercijalne svrhe za proizvodnju životinja koje imaju neki poželjni genotip. Cilj ovog seminara je objasniti princip reproduktivnog kloniranja i kratko prijeći preko glavnih uspjeha tehnike te moralnih dilema u vezi kloniranja ljudi. Iako se više koristi u komercijalne svrhe nego u istraživačke, posjeduje veliki potencijal za otkrivanje novih spoznaja u području epigenetike, stanične biologije te embriologije. Kao i ostala tehnološka i znanstvena postignuća, reproduktivno kloniranje se stalno unaprjeđuje i ostaje nam samo predviđati kako će u budućnosti mijenjati svijet.

Abstract (english)

Reproductive cloning is a technique by which the nucleus of one cell is transplanted into an enucleated cell from which embryonic development can be stimulated. The goal of reproductive cloning is to obtain an organism that is genetically identical to the organism, i.e. the cell from which the nucleus was transplanted. Over the course of history, it has been used as a tool to study cellular processes related to division, epigenetic changes, cellular aging, and the potential of genetic material to manage successful embryonic development. Today it is mainly used for commercial purposes to produce animals that have some desirable genotype. The aim of this seminar is to explain the principle of reproductive cloning and briefly go over the main achievements of the technique and moral dilemmas regarding human cloning. Although it is more often used for commercial purposes than for research, it has great potential for acquiring new insights into the field of epigenetics, cell biology and embryology. Like other technological and scientific advances, reproductive cloning is constantly improving, and we can only imagine its way of shaping the future.
