Abstract

Kapelska svijetlica (Telestes karsticus Marčić i Mrakovčić, 2011) je nedavno otkrivena vrsta
ribe Dunavskog slijeva te se može naći na svega nekoliko lokaliteta na području Velike i Male
Kapele. Zabilježeno je da ova vrsta migrira u podzemlje u hladnijem dijelu godine (studeniožujak) te je cilj ovog diplomskog rada usporediti starost i rast podzemne populacije iz ponora
Sušik s nadzemnom populacijom iz potoka Sušik. Starost i rast uspoređeni su analizom broja
godišnjih skleritnih prstena ljusaka, udaljenosti između godišnjih prstena te analizom radijusa
cijele ljuske. Iz tih podataka je napravljen povratni izračun te je određena von Bertalanffyjeva
krivulja rasta. Od pet starosnih razreda, najviše jedinki kod obje populacije spadaju u starosni
razred 3+
. Prosječna standardna tjelesna duljina nadzemne populacije je 96,57 mm i kod
podzemne populacije 106,07 mm. Koeficijent rasta određen iz von Bertalanffyjeve krivulje za
jedinke nadzemne populacije iznosi 0,907, a za jedinke podzemne populacije 0,848.
Asimptotska duljina određena iz von Bertalanffyjeve krivulje za jedinke nadzemne populacije
iznosi 123,51 mm, a za jedinke podzemne populacije 144,12 mm. Zaključak je da jedinke
podzemne populacije sporije rastu, no dostižu veće tjelesne duljine.

Abstract (english)

The karst dace (Telestes karsticus Marčić i Mrakovčić, 2011) is a recently discovered fish species of
the Danube drainage, which can be found only on a few localities around the Velika and Mala Kapela
mountain ranges. This species has been known to migrate underground in the colder part of the year
(November-March). Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to compare the age and growth of the
subterranean population in the Sušik abyss with the surface population from the Sušik creek. The age
and growth of the two populations is compared by analyzing the number of annuli, by measuring their
radii and by measuring the scale radius. The back-calculation and the von-Bertalanffy growth curve
was determined from the collected data. Keeping in mind that there are five age classes, it is apparent
that most individual specimens in both populations belong to Age Class 3+
. The mean value of the
standard body length for the surface population is 96.57 mm and 106.07 mm for the subterranean
population. The growth coefficient determined from the von Bertalanffy growth curve for the
individual specimens in the surface population is 0.907 and 0.848 for individual specimens of the
subterranean population. The asymptotic length determined from the von Bertalanffy growth curve for
the individual specimens of the surface population is 123.51 mm and 144.12 mm for the individual
specimens of the subterranean population. Conclusion: the individual specimens of the subterranean
population grow at a slower pace but they tend to attain greater lengths.
