Abstract

Bonobo, lat. Pan paniscus, ugrožena je vrsta čovjekolikog majmuna, koja nastanjuje
prostor lijeve obale rijeke Kongo, koja odvaja bonobe od njihove sestrinske vrste čimpanze.
Populacije bonoba bilježe pad, a uzrok tomu jest prekomjeran lov i uništavanje njihovih
staništa. U radu su detaljno opisani ovi uzročnici, a dan je i pregled poduzetih mjera zaštite te
njihovih prednosti i mana. Također, u radu je opisan širok repertoar ponašanja bonoba, koji

Abstract (english)

The bonobo, lat. Pan paniscus, is an endangered great ape that inhabits the left
bank of the Congo River which separates them from their sister taxa, the chimpanzees.
Bonobo populations are experiencing a decline due to bushmeat hunting and the destruction
of their habitat. This paper closely examines the underlying causes of their rapid extinction.
Also, an overview of the protection measures taken is given as well as their strengths and
