Abstract

Nakon direktnog antropogenog uništavanja staništa, invazivne strane vrste drugi su razlog
ugroženosti biološke raznolikosti na globalnom nivou. Kontrola i suzbijanje invazivnih vrsta danas
predstavljaju najveći izazov za čovječanstvo, ali i prirodne ekosustave. Invazivne vrste je gotovo
nemoguće potpuno ukloniti stoga je potrebno spriječiti njihov unos u početku. Strane vrste donose
velike promjene u ekosustave. Često zauzimaju slobodne niše, a kad to nije moguće, onda su u
kompeticiji sa zavičajnim vrstama. Opstanak stranih vrsta ovisi o stabilnoj populaciji i potpunoj
integraciji u novi ekosustav. Alohtona vrsta često ulazi u simbiozu s ostalim alohtonim ili
autohtonim vrstama. Mutualizam im nerijetko pomaže da pospješe svoju egzistenciju. Glavni
načini unosa su balastne vode i razmjena dobara. Prema mom mišljenju, upravo su to glavna
područja djelovanja gdje bi kompanije i pojedinci mogli i morali poduzeti mjere kontrole. U
Republici Hrvatskoj, nekoliko stranih vrsta uneseno je (posebice mungos) radi biološke kontrole i
dobar dio radi poribljavanja. Hrvatska je definitivno na tragu rješenja i treba težiti ka edukaciji
stanovništva i sprječavanju unosa stranih vrsta.

Abstract (english)

After direct anthropogenic habitat destruction, invasive alien species are the second reason for the
threat of biodiversity on the global level. Control and suppression of invasive species today
represent the greatest challenge for mankind, as well as natural ecosystems. Invasive species are
almost impossible to completely remove and their introduction should therefore be prevented at
the beginning. Alien species bring major changes to ecosystems. They often occupy free niches,
and when that is not possible, they are in competition with native species. The survival of alien
species depends on stable population and complete integration into the new ecosystem. Introduced
species often undergoes symbiosis with other introduced or native species. Mutualism often helps
them to promote their existence. The main ways of introduction are ballast water and exchange of
goods. In my opinion, these are the main areas of activity where companies and individuals could
and should take control measures. In the Republic of Croatia, several alien species have been
introduced (especially mungos) for biological control and a large part for restocking. Croatia is
definitely on the trail of a solution and should strive to educate the citizens and prevent the
introduction of alien species.
