Abstract

U radu je provedena funkcionalna klasifikacija 127 hrvatskih upravnih gradova
temeljem izračunate ekonomske baze metodom Ullmana i Daceya (1960). Ukupni nebazni udio
zaposlenih povećava se rastom reda veličine gradova od 21,3 % za najmanje do 65,6 % za
najveće gradove. Najvažnije bazno područje u većini gradova jest Prerađivačka industrija (C),
a zatim slijede Djelatnosti pružanja smještaja i usluživanja hrane (I). Funkcionalnom

sektor (sekundarni, tercijarni ili kvartarni), usmjerenost na dva sektora te diverzifikacija.
Najveći broj gradova pokazuje usmjerenost na tercijarni sektor (41) i na sekundarni sektor (36).
Utvrđene su velike regionalne razlike među gradovima. Tako među gradovima Središnje i
Istočne Hrvatske dominiraju sekundarni gradovi sa samo tri tercijarna, dok u Sjevernom i
Južnom hrvatskom primorju dominiraju gradovi usmjereni na tercijarni sektor. U strukturi sva

Abstract (english)

In this paper a functional classification of 127 Croatian cities was carried out
based on the cities’ economic base, which was calculated using minimum requirements
approach (Ullman and Dacey, 1960). The total non-basic share of employment increases with
the city size from 21.3% for the smallest cities to 65.6% for the largest cities. The most
important base activity in most cities is Manufacturing (C), followed by Accommodation and
Food Services (I). In functional... More classification cities were grouped in five classes: specialization
in one sector of activity (secondary, tertiary, or quaternary), specialization on two sectors and
diversification. The largest number of cities shows a focus on the tertiary sector (41) and on the
secondary sector (36). Large regional differences between cities were found. Among the cities
of Central and Eastern Croatia, cities specialized in secondary sector dominate with only three
tertiary ones, while in the coastal parts of Croatia, tertiary cities dominate. The structure of all
