Abstract

Medicinski pomognuta oplodnja (MPO) je visoko specijalizirana grana medicine kojom se liječi nepolodnost u slučajevima kada se uzroci neplodnosti ne mogu otkloniti, već se moraju zaobići. In vitro oplodnja (engl. in-vitro fertilisation - IVF) postupak je kojim su jajne stanice oplođene spermijima izvan maternice. Ovom postupku liječenja neplodnosti pribjegava se kada su ostale metode pomognute oplodnje bezuspješne. Liječenje neplodnosti uključuje kontroliranje ovulacije hormonima, vađenje (punkcija) jajnih stanica iz jajnika žene i ostavljanje spermija da oplode jajnu stanicu u hranjivom mediju. Zametak se tada vraća (transferira) u maternicu pacijentice s namjerom da se postigne trudnoća. Pretilost i prekomjerna težina jedan su od vodećih zdravstvenih problema u svijetu. Pretilost ima nekoliko ozbiljnih posljedica za zdravlje, uključujući hipertenziju, šećernu bolest (Diabetes mellitus), kardiovaskularne bolesti, karcinom maternice i karcinom dojki. Također ima negativan utjecaj na reproduktivno zdravlje. Pretjerana tjelesna težina dovodi do menstrualnih disfunkcija, odnosno do anovulacije i neplodnosti. Prekomjerna težina ima utjecaj na kvalitetu jajne stanice, razvoj embrija, broj zrelih jajnih stanica te je potrebna veća doza gonadotropina tijekom stimulacije. Cilj ovog istraživanja je odrediti utjecaj indeksa tjelesne mase na ishod trudnoća u žena nakon postupaka izvantjelesne oplodnje. Rezultati našeg istraživanja pokazali su da BMI utječe na ishod trudnoće.

Abstract (english)

Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is a highly specialized branch of medicine which treats infertility in cases where the cause of infertility cannot be eliminated, but must be bypassed. In vitro fertilization (in-vitro fertilization, IVF) is a technique in which oocyte are fertilized by sperm outside the womb. This procedure of infertility treatment is resorted to when other methods of assisted reproduction fail to succeed. Infertility treatment includes hormonal control of ovulation, extraction (puncture) of oocytes from ovaries of women and enabling sperm to fertilize the oocyte in a nutrient medium. It is embryo transfer in order to achieve pregnancy. Obesity and overweight are one of the leading health problems in the world. Obesity has a number of serious health effects, including hypertension, diabetes (Diabetes mellitus), cardiovascular disease, uterine and breast cancer. It also has a negative impact on reproductive health. Excess weight leads to menstrual dysfunction, or to anovulation and infertility. Excess weight has an impact on the quality of oocytes, embryo development, and the number of mature oocytes and requires higher doses of gonadotropins during the stimulation. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of body mass index on in vitro fertilization outcomes in women. The results of our research showed that there is a relationship between BMI and the outcome of pregnancy rate.
