Hrvatska je zemlja iznimno bogata šumama, a jedna od najznačajnijih je zajednica hrasta lužnjaka. Prekriva 68% površine Spačvanskog bazena, najveće cjelovite nizinske zajednice šuma hrasta lužnjaka u Europi. Zahvaljujući iznimnoj kvaliteti hrasta koja je svjetski prepoznata, šumarstvo i drvna industrija su od presudne važnosti za gospodarstvo Vukovarsko-srijemske županije. Croatia is a country extremely rich in forests, and one of the most important is the community of english oak. It covers 68% of the surface of the Spačva basin, the largest complete lowland community of oak forests in Europe. Thanks to the exceptional quality of oak, which is recognized worldwide, forestry and the wood industry are of crucial importance for the economy of the Vukovar-Srijem County.
