Abstract

Mnogi terapeutici kao što su cjepiva, antitijela i rekombinantni proteini po sastavu su
glikoproteini. Biljne stanice sve se češće koriste za proizvodnju rekombinantnih terapeutskih
glikoproteina jer nude određene prednosti pred animalnim i prokariotskim stanicama. Glavno
svojstvo koje im omogućuje sintezu glikoproteinskih terapeutika je sposobnost N- i Oglikozilacije.
Ipak, korištenje biljnih stanica u te svrhe ima i svojih nedostataka. Glikoproteini

organizmu mogu dovesti do alergije, a postoji i problem brzog klirensa glikoproteinskog

Abstract (english)

Many therapeutics such as vaccines, antibodies, and recombinant proteins are glycoproteins.
The use of plant cells for the production of recombinant therapeutic glycoproteins is constantly
increasing due to certain advantages of plant cells over animal and prokaryotic cells. The main
property that enables them to synthesize glycoprotein therapeutics is their ability to perform
N- and O-glycosylation. However, using plant cells for these purposes also has its
disadvantages. Glycoproteins... More produced in plant cells can contain characteristic plant epitopes
that can cause allergic reactions in the human body. There is also a problem of the rapid
clearance of the glycoprotein therapeutics from human serum, which reduces its effectiveness.
These challenges are overcomed through various techniques such as inactivation and/or
