Abstract

Endokrini modulatori (EM) su prirodni ili antropogeni spojevi sa svojstvom opstajanja u prirodi, a utječu antagonistički ili agonistički na endokrini sustav organizama. Mijenjaju strukturu ili funkciju endokrinog sustava preko poremečenja hormonske homeostaze te uzrokuju promjene na razinama jedinka, njihovog potomstva i njihovim populacijama. Njihov utjecaj na beskralježnjake nije toliko dobro istražen kao kod kralježnjaka, ali pokazuje potencijal za razvoj endokrinih pesticida u slučaju... More otkrivanja ekološki prihvatljivog EM. Kralježnjaci imaju veći rizik izloženosti EM zbog svojeg položaja u hranidbenom lancu i teže detekcije promjena uzrokovanim njima. Od stadija razvoja do odraslih jedinki njihov utjecaj može prikriveno prelaziti sa generacije na generaciju dok ne uzrokuje nepovratnu promjenu, odgovornu za smrt populacije. Abstract (english)

Endocrine disruptors are compounds that persist in nature, they can be anthropogenic or xenobiotic. They can have an agonistic or antagonistic effect on the endocrine system of vertebrates and invertebrates by altering the structure or function of the endocrine system. With the disruption of hormonal homeostasis they can have a surprising imapct on individual animals, their populations in a habitat or even their enitre species. Effects of endocrine disruptors on invertebrates are not as... More well researched as on other vertebrates, with most research focusing on the development of eco-friendly pesticides. Vertebrates can get exposed to endocrine disruptors in any aspect of their life and their changes due to that exposure are harder to detect. Those changes get passed onto future generations without detection, which can endanger entire populations. Research that focuses on finding and diagnosing the effects of endocrine disruptors is the best way of dealing with the issue. Less
