Abstract

Grad Varaždin je kroz 20. i 21. stoljeće prošao kroz intenzivan urbani, demografski i industrijski razvoj. Ovaj se rad bavi razvojem grada od 1945. godine do danas. To je vrijeme u kojem je grad dio dvaju država, Jugoslavije, a njenim raspadom Hrvatske. To je i razdoblje u kojem grad prolazi kroz dva različita politička i ekonomska sistema koji su svaki na svoj način ostavili trag kako na Varaždin tako i na njemu obližnje krajeve. Šezdesete i sedamdesete bile su razdoblje najintenzivnije urbane i industrijske izgradnje. Osamdesete su bile stagnantne, a devedesete turbulentne zbog novih ratnih zbivanja. 21. stoljeće odlikuje se napuštanjem starih industrija te stavljanjem naglaska na prehrambenu industriju, IT tehnologiju i jačanje obrazovne funkcije. Abstract (english)

The city of Varaždin has gone through some intense urban, demographic and industrial development in 20th and 21st century. This papers theme is about city development since 1945. It's a time in which Varaždin is a part of Yugoslavia and, after its breakdown, Croatia. It's also a time in which Varaždin has gone through two different political and economic systems of whom both made their marks on Varaždin and neighbouring parts. Paper is split in several time sequences which were specific in... More some way. Until 1959. Varaždin had to consolidate its society and economy because of World war II. Sixties and seventies were a time of most intense urban and industrial development. Eighties were stagnant, and nineties were turbulent due to Civil war. 21st century is characterized by leaving old industries (textile) and putting an accent on new industries like food industry or IT technologies.
