Abstract

Nanotehnologija je jedan od glavnih nosača tehnološkog napretka današnjice. Jedan od aspekata je i razvoj materijala s nanočesticama koji je zanimljiv radi mogućnosti podešavanja raznih svojstava mijenjanjem veličine. Naime, kod dovoljno malih dimenzija prestaje vrijediti aproksimacija gibanja elektrona u beskonačno dugačkom periodičkom potencijalu pa svojstva materijala počinju ovisiti o dimenzijama. To jest, ako možemo kontrolirati dimenzije i raspodjelu nanočestica, možemo kontrolirati i svojstva materijala. Za izradu solarnih ćelija mogu se koristiti poluvodičke nanočestice, a optička se svojstva takvih materijala mogu optimizirati za bolje prikupljanje energije iz sunčevog spektra i to bez visokih cijena materijala i proizvodnje. U ovom radu proučavane su jezgra-ljuska nanočestice s jezgrom od germanija, a ljuskom od raznih metala. Koristeći razne metode karakterizacije materijala te mjerenja optičkih svojstava pokazalo se kako odabir metala i njegovog udjela u materijalu utječe na optička svojstva. Konačno, izrađene su solarne ćelije od korištenih uzoraka te su se usporedile njihove efikasnosti.

Abstract (english)

Nanotechnology is one of the main reasons for fast technological advancement of today. One of the aspects is development of materials with nanoparticles that is interesting because of the possibility of optimizing different properties by changing their size. Apparently, at sizes small enough, the approximation of infinitely long periodic potential stops working so the properties start depending on sizes. Thus, if we can control the size and distribution of nanoparticles, we can control properties of the material. Solar cells can be designed using semi-conductor nanoparticles so optical properties can be optimized for better absorption of sunlight without high prices of materials and production. In this work, core-shell nanoparticles with germanium core and metal shell are studied. Using different methods for characterisation of materials and measuring optical properties, it is shown how the choice of metal and its amount in the material determines optical properties. Finally, solar cells have been designed from researched samples and their efficiencies have been compared.
