Abstract
Alge, premda globalno rasprostranjene u vodenim i vlažnim staništima, trenutno su slabo primijenjene na području forenzike. U ovom radu izloženi su načini primjene algi za utvrđivanje smrti utapanjem. Ovakav način smrti je autopsijom teško utvrditi sa sigurnošću, ali ponekad alge, s naglaskom na dijatomeje kao najčešće korištene, mogu pomoći otkloniti sumnju. Uz trenutno korištene metode, u ovom radu su ukratko predstavljeni i novi načini iskorištavanja algi koji će u budućnosti dodatno olakšati utvrđivanje dijagnoze utapanja, mjesta utapanja, pa čak i vremena smrti.
Abstract (english)
Algae are currently being poorly exploited in the field of forensics albeit being globally distributed across water habitats and moist habitats. Different uses of algae for the diagnosis of drowning are reviewed in this work. Diagnosis of death by drowning at autopsy is difficult, but sometimes algae, with diatoms as the most commonly used, can help remove any suspicion. Along with currently used methods, reviewed in this work are new means of using algae which will additionally make the diagnosis of drowning as well as establishing the place of drowning and even time of death easier in the future.
