Abstract

Kratkozupčasta kadulja (Salvia brachyodon Vandas) usko je endemična vrsta s tri poznate populacije. Prikupljeno je 119 uzoraka najveće populacije, one s poluotoka Pelješca. Nakon izolacije DNA, lančanom reakcijom polimerazom provedeno je umnožavanje osam mikrosatelitnih lokusa, a s ciljem utvrđivanja osnovnih populacijsko genetičkih parametara. Ovim istraživanjem je utvrđena visoka stopa klonalnog razmnožavanja kratkozupčaste kadulje, a koje značajno utječe na prostornu genetičku strukturu istraživane populacije. Također, dobivene vrijednosti osnovnih populacijsko genetičkih parametara ne upućuju na genetičku osiromašenost ove populacije, te se može zaključiti da ona neposredno nije ugrožena. Nadalje, može se pretpostaviti da ekološka sukcesija i nestanak odgovarajućeg staništa predstavljaju posrednu prijetnju za kratkozupčastu kadulju na ovom lokalitetu, te bi eventualne konzervacijske aktivnosti u budućnosti trebale biti usmjerene prema očuvanju staništa otvorenog tipa nužnog za opstanak ove vrste.

Abstract (english)

Salvia brachyodon Vandas is a narrow endemic species with three known populations. 119 samples were collected from the largest population at Pelješac peninsula. The DNA was isolated from plant tissue and eight microsatellite loci were amplified by the use of Polymerase Chain Reaction method. An analysis was conducted to determine the basic population genetic parameters. This research revealed high rates of clonal reproduction in short-toothed sage which has major impact on spatial genetic structure of analysed population. Also, the obtained population genetics parameters do not indicate a genetic impoverishment of the population, and it can be concluded that the population is not directly threatened. Furthermore, it can be assumed that ecological succession and the disappearance of a suitable habitat represent a direct threat to short-toothed sage in this site. Future conservation measures should be aimed at preserving open type habitat which is necessary for the survival of this species.
