Abstract
Spolna morfometrija je jako koristan alat za određivanje spola kod svih vrsta galeba koji se gnijezde u Hrvatskoj. U Hrvatskoj se gnijezde galeb klaukavac (Larus michahellis), riječni galeb (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) i sredozemni galeb (Ichthyaetus audouinii). Mjerenje pruža jeftiniju i sigurniju metodu za određivanje spola koja se može primijeniti na terenu. Pri analizama mjera različitih dijelova tijela svih vrsta hrvatskih galeba ustanovljeno je da mjera duljina glave i kljuna daje najveću točnost pri određivanju spola . Pri korištenju više različitih mjera povećava se i točnost određivanja spola.
Abstract (english)
Sexual morphometry is a very useful tool for identifying the sex of all the species of gulls that nest in Croatia. In Croatia yellow-legged gull (Larus michahellis), black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) and audouin’s gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii) nest. Measures provide a cheaper and safer method to identify sex, which can be applied on the field. Upon analysing measurements of different parts of the gull species that nest in Croatia, it was determined that the measurement of the head and bill gave the best results when it came to differentiate genders among gulls. Using more than one different measurements can significantly raise the accuracy of determining the sex of gulls.
