Abstract

U prošlom stoljeću došlo je do velikog razvoja nanotehnologije i nanomaterijala koji su našli veliku primjenu u industriji. Nanočestice (NP) su čestice čije su dimenzije od 1 nm do 100 nm. U ovom diplomskom radu obratit ćemo pozornost na metalne nanočestice, odnosno nanočestice srebra (AgNP). Iako se AgNP koristi u širokom dijelu industrije, istraživanjima se pokazalo da imaju i neke štetne učinke u ekosustavu. Vođeni idejom njegovog lošeg utjecaja, u ovom diplomskom radu pokušat ćemo pronaći način kako AgNP ukloniti iz okoliša, točnije iz otpadnih voda putem kojih dospijevaju u okoliš, gdje imaju najveći štetni utjecaj. Krenuvši od proučavanja magnetskih svojstava feromagnetskih materijala, doći ćemo do svojstva koje obilježava NP, a to je magnetski moment velikog iznosa. To novo svojstvo naziva se superparamagnetizam. U ovom diplomskom radu dokazati ćemo da i AgNP pokazuju superparamagnetska svojstva. To svojstvo iskoristit ćemo u prijedlogu modeliranja filtara koji će uklanjati AgNP iz otpadnih voda pomoću permanentnog magneta. Nehomogeno magnetsko polje magneta djeluje na AgNP silom zbog njegovog velikog magnetskog momenta čiji ćemo utjecaj na gibanje dodatno istražiti. Opisat će se zamišljeni način izvedbe filtara te do kojih problema dolazimo prilikom njihove konstrukcije. Komentirat ćemo dobivene rezultate zamišljenih filtara te objasniti na koji će se način postići bolja učinkovitost odvajanja AgNP iz vode.

Abstract (english)

Over the last century, nanotechnology and nanomaterials have developed greatly and found application in industry. Nanoparticles (NPs) are particles between 1 nm and 100 nm in size. In this thesis, we focus on metal nanoparticles, i.e. silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Although AgNPs have been widely used in industry, research has shown that AgNPs also have significant adverse impacts on ecosystem. In view of these negative impacts, in this thesis we will try to find the way how to remove AgNPs from the environment; to be more accurate, from wastewater where they show the strongest adverse effect. Starting from the study of the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials, we will come to the property which characterizes NPs, and that is magnetic moment of large magnitude. This new property is called superparamagnetism. In this thesis, we will prove that AgNPs show superparamagnetic properties. We use this property to propose construction of filter which removes AgNPs from wastewater using permanent magnet. The inhomogeneous magnetic field of magnet acts by force on AgNPs due to its large magnetic moment, whose influence will be investigated additionally. We will describe the imagined construction of filter and explain how to achieve better efficiency of separation of AgNPs from water.
