Abstract

U ovom radu primijenili smo Picardovu metodu u dokazivanju teorema o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti rješenja integralnih i diferencijalnih jednadžbi. Važnost teorema o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti nije teško uočiti. Naime, većina diferencijalnih jednadžbi uopće nema rješenja, ili ako ga ima, tada ga nije moguće prikazati u zatvorenom obliku: koristeći neki skup elementarnih funkcija i konačan broj elementarnih operacija. Ako i nađemo određeno rješenje, još uvijek ostaje pitanje jedinstvenosti. Iz prethodnog je jasno da su teoremi o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti integralnih i diferencijalnih jednadžbi vrlo korisni u praktičnom smislu, a dokazuju se upravo Picardovom metodom, što čini Picardovu metodu korisnim teorijskim alatom. U prvom poglavlju proučili smo dvije vrste integralnih jednadžbi: Volterrine i Fredholmove jednadžbe. Potom smo dokazali teorem o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti Volterrine jednadžbe. U drugom poglavlju prenosimo logiku tog dokaza na dokazivanje teorema o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti rješenja obične diferencijalne jednadžbe prvog reda sa početnim uvjetom. Nadalje, generalizirajući metode iz teorema za jednu običnu diferencijalnu jednadžbu dokazali smo teorem o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti rješenja sustava od \(n\) običnih diferencijalnih jednadžbi prvog reda sa početnim uvjetima. Konačno, iskoristivši prethodni teorem za sustav od \(n\) diferencijalnih jednadžbi, dokazali smo teorem o egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti rješenja obične diferencijalne jednadžbe \(n\)-tog reda sa početnim uvjetima. U trećem poglavlju navedeni su određeni teoremi matematičke analize koje smo često koristili u radu i na koje smo se u radu referencirali.

Abstract (english)

In this work we applied Picard's iterative method in deriving a number of existence and uniqueness theorems for integral and differential equations. The importance of such theorems is not hard to see. Many differential equations do not possess a solution at all, and even when they do, the solution is not a closed-form one: meaning that it can be expressed with a certain set of elementary functions and using finite number of standard operations. Even if a solution is found, the question of uniqueness remains. From these considerations, it is obvious that existence and uniqueness theorems are of great importance in practice. These theorems are derived using Picard method, which makes Picard method a useful theoretical tool. In first chapter we considered two integral equations: Volterra and Fredholm equations. Later on we proved an existence and uniqueness theorem for the Volterra integral equation. Utilizing the method used in proving the theorem for Volterra equation, in second chapter, we proved existence and uniqueness theorem for an ordinary differential equation with initial conditions. Later on, we generalized that theorem to a sistem of \(n\) ordinary differential equations with initial conditions. Lastly, we derived an existence and uniqueness theorem for a Cauchy problem consisting of an \(n\)-th order differential equation with initial conditions. In the third chapter we listed a number of results from real analysis often used in this work, which we referenced to in a number of places throughout the work.
