Abstract

Opcija je ugovor koji vlasniku daje pravo, ali ne i obvezu, da kupi (call) ili proda (put) određenu financijsku imovinu po unaprijed dogovorenoj cijeni, do određenog datuma ili na taj datum, na tzv. datum dospijeća. Ovisno o trenutku izvršenja, razlikujemo europske i američke opcije. Europske opcije se mogu iskoristiti samo na datum dospijeća, dok se američke opcije mogu izvršiti i u bilo kojem trenutku prije datuma dospijeća. U ovom radu određujemo cijenu europske opcije. U prvom poglavlju se upoznajemo s osnovnim pojmovima u teoriji opcija, funkcijama isplata te čimbenicima koji utječu na kretanje cijena opcija. U drugom poglavlju proširujemo Black-Scholesov model i navodimo svojstva. Model je opisan linearnom paraboličkom parcijalnom diferencijalnom jednadžbom koju zadovoljava funkcija cijene europske put opcije. Zatim vršimo potrebnu zamjenu varijabli te navodimo rezultat egzistencije i jedinstvenosti rješenja. Na kraju poglavlja dajemo varijacijsku formulaciju zadaće za europsku put opciju. U trećem poglavlju primjenjujemo metodu konačnih elemenata s elementima prvog stupnja na model zapisan u obliku varijacijske jednadžbe te računamo numeričku aproksimaciju rješenja modela. U četvrtom poglavlju prikazujemo razne primjere cijena europskih opcija s različitim parametrima. Cijene call opcija računamo iz put-call pariteta. Uspoređujemo cijene europskih opcija dobivene metodom konačnih elemenata s egzaktnim cijenama ukoliko je to moguće. Također, promatramo promjene cijena europskih opcija u ovisnosti o promjenama određenih parametara. Na kraju poglavlja prikazujemo implementaciju metode u MATLAB-u.

Abstract (english)

Option on a given asset is a contract that gives its holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy (call) or sell (put) the asset for a predetermined price, until a certain future time or at that time. That future time moment is called the maturity. Depending on the time of exercise, we differentiate between European and American options. European options can only be excercised on the maturity date, while American options can be excercised earlier. In this work we determine the price of European option. In the first chapter we introduce the basic concepts of option theory, payoff functions and factors affecting option prices. In the second chapter we extend the Black-Scholes model and list some its properties. Model is described by a linear parabolic partial differential equation which can be solved for the pricing function of the European put option. Then we use change of variables and formulate existence and uniqueness result of the solution. At the end of the chapter we give the variational formulation of the European put option value problem. In the third chapter we use finite-element method of degree 1 on the model written as variational equation and we calculate the numerical approximation of the solution of the model. In the fourth chapter we present various examples of prices of European options with different parameters. European call option price is calculated from put-call parity. We compare prices obtained by finite-element method with exact solutions when possible. Also, we observe changes of European options prices depending on parameters changes. At the end of the chapter we give the implementation code written in MATLAB.
