Abstract
Cilj ovog studentskog završnog rada jest opisati vrstu Puffinus yelkouan, koja je endem Mediteranskog mora i tek je nedavno opisana kao zasebna vrsta, odvojeno od vrste Puffinus puffinus te stoga još nije pomno proučena. Ovaj rad uključuje i nedavno prikupljene rezultate projekta Life Artina, organiziranog unutar EU projekta Life, koji istražuje biologiju, rasprostranjenost i ugroženost ove ptice u Hrvatskoj, točnije na Lastovskom otočju, s ciljem buduće zaštite ove vrste i njezinog staništa.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this BSc thesis is to present Yelkouan shearwater Puffinus yelkouan, an endemic seabird species of the Mediterranean Sea that was recently separated from the Manx shearwater Puffinus puffinus, although it is still not well described. Moreover, this thesis includes recently collected data from the currently ongoing project named LIFE Artina, under EU project LIFE. This project is run in the Lastovo archipelago, in the Republic of Croatia, and the main goal is to identify and mitigate threats to the Yelkouan shearwater as well as to collect data for the protection of the species and its habitat.
