Abstract

U ovom radu je postavljen, optimiziran i karakteriziran postav za apsorpcijsko oslikavanje oblaka hladnih atoma rubidija. Mjereni su parametri oblaka hladnih atoma kao što su optička debljina, broj atoma, veličina oblaka i temperatura za različite parametre postava. Promotreno je kako se optička debljina, broj atoma te veličina oblaka mijenja tijekom balističke ekspanzije oblaka. Iz ovisnosti veličine oblaka o vremenu ekspanzije određena je temperatura hladnih atoma. Razmotreno je ponašanje oblaka ovisno o vremenu koliko dugo se stvara oblak i o snazi apsorpcijske zrake. Mjerena je ovisnost parametra oblaka ovisno o snazi i pomaku frekvencije lasera za hlađenje. Za kraj rada uspoređena je temperatura, broj atoma te omjer signala i Šuma apsorpcijske i fluorescentne metode oslikavanja o snazi i pomaku frekvencije lasera za hlađenje.

Abstract (english)

In this paper, an absorption based system for imaging cold rubidium atoms is set up, optimized and characterized. The optical density, atom number, cloud size and temperature of cold rubidium atoms are measured for different parameters of the experimental setup. The time dependency of the optical density, atom number and cloud size is determined. The temperature of the atoms is determined from the time dependency of the cloud size. The cloud properties are observed as a function of the cloud creation time and the power of the absorption beam. The dependency of the cloud variables is determined as a function of the cooling laser frequency and beam power. At the end of this paper, the temperature, atom number and signal-to-noise ratio is measured and compared for fluorescence and absorption imaging techniques as a function of the cooling laser frequency and beam power.
