Abstract

U ožujku i prosincu 2020. godine, u Hrvatskoj su se dogodila dva razorna potresa jačine 5.4 i 6.2 s epicentrima u Zagrebu i pokraj Petrinje. Oni su bili popraćeni mnogobrojnim slabijim potresima. Hrvatska se nalazi u seizmički aktivnom području te su ovim potresima prethodili čak i jači potresi u prošlosti. Svi oni bili su očekivani dijelu znanstvene zajednice i stručnjacima jer se Hrvatska nalazi na vrlo nestabilnom području s nekoliko rasjednih zona, ali činjenica da se potrese ne može predvidjeti te da ih često vremenski razdvajaju dulja mirnija razdoblja, prati ih element iznenađenja, čuđenja i šoka u široj javnosti. Potresi ostavljaju niz
prostornih ekonomskih i socijalnih posljedica koji se očituju na gotovo svima poljima gospodarstva i kvalitete života građana.

Abstract (english)

In March and December 2020, two devastating earthquakes of magnitude 5.4 and 6.2 occurred in Croatia, with epicenters in Zagreb and near Petrinja. They were accompanied by many weaker earthquakes. Croatia is in a seismically active area and these earthquakes were preceded by even stronger earthquakes in the past. All of them were expected by the scientific
community and experts because Croatia is in a very unstable area with several fault zones, but the fact that earthquakes are unpredictable and that they are often separated by longer peaceful periods, they caused surprise, amazement, and shock. Earthquakes leave several spatial economic and social consequences that are reflected in almost all fields of the economy and the quality of life of citizens.
