Abstract

U ovom radu predstavili smo osnove teorije aukcija i njezine glavne rezultate. Počeli smo nudeći više primjera različitih tipova aukcija i objašnjavajući njihovu mehaniku. Zatim smo identificirali optimalne strategije licitiranja za kupce u aukcijama sa zatvorenim ponudama prvog i drugog tipa, koje se pokazuju i elegantnima i jednostavnima. U drugom dijelu rada fokusirali smo se na pomoć prodavatelju u identificiranju tipa aukcije koji maksimizira prihod. Pokazali smo da aukcije sa zatvorenim ponudama prvog i drugog tipa donose isti prihod prodavatelju. U tom smo kontekstu pokazali da, kako bi maksimizirao prihod, prodavatelj treba odabrati aukciju sa zatvorenim ponudama drugog tipa s minimalnom cijenom.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis, we presented the fundamentals of auction theory along with its primary results. We began by offering multiple examples of different types of auctions and explaining their mechanics. After that, we identified the optimal bidding strategies for buyers in sealed-bid first and second-price auctions, which proved to be both elegant and straightforward. In the second part of the thesis, we focused on assisting the seller in identifying the auction type that maximizes revenue. We demonstrated that sealed-bid first and second-price auctions yield the same revenue for the seller. In this context, we showed the following: to maximize revenue, the seller should opt for a sealed-bid second-price auction with a reserve price.
