Abstract

Cilj ovog rada bio je analizirati bifurkaciju kvadratne familije funkcija \(f_\mu(x)=\mu x(1-x), \ \mu>0\), tj. analizirati asimptotsko ponašanje niza iteracija vrijednosti funkcije \(f_\mu\) s obzirom na promjenu vrijednosti parametra \(\mu\) i izbor početne točke \(x_0\). Željeli smo naći vrijednosti parametra za koje je moguće predvidjeti ponašanje sustava nakon velikog broja iteracija te koliko nam na to utječe izbor početne vrijednosti \(x_0\). U Poglavlju 2 smo naslutili promjene koje se događaju s promjenom tog parametra \(\mu\). Zatim smo u Poglavlju 3 paralelno uvodili osnovne pojmove iz teorije dinamičkih sustava i primjenjivali ih na kvadratnu familiju funkcija \(f_\mu(x)=\mu x(1-x), \ \mu>0\). Time smo dokazivali tvrdnje koje smo grafički naslutili u Poglavlju 2 te pronašli vrijednosti parametara za koje je moguće predvidjeti ponašanje sustava, štoviše, točno odrediti što će se dogoditi s vrijednostima nakon velikog broja iteracija. U Poglavlju 3 smo grafički ilustrirali bifurkaciju koja se događa s promjenom parametra \(\mu\). U određenim smo vrijednostima parametra uočili pojavu udvostručenja perioda te pojasnili zašto do nje dolazi. Ta pojava sugerira put prema kaosu.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this paper was to analyse quadratic family of functions \(f_\mu(x)=\mu x(1-x), \ \mu>0\), that is, the change in the asymptotic behaviour of its iterates with respect to to the parameter \(\mu\) and the initial value \(x_0\). We wanted to find the values of parameter \(\mu\) for which it is possible to predict the asymptotic behaviour of the system and to investigate whether the choice of the initial value \(x_0\) has any effect. In Chapter 2, we predicted the changes in the asymptotic behavior of orbits with parameter changes.. In Chapter 3, we introduced basic concepts of the theory of discrete dynamical systems and applied them to the quadratic family \(f_\mu(x)=\mu x(1-x), \ \mu>0\). We have mathematically proven some predictions from Chapter 2 and found the values of the parameter for which it is possible to predict the asymptotic behaviour of the system, furthermore. In Chapter 3 we have illustrated the bifurcation that happens with the change of parameter \(\mu\). For some values of the parameter, we have noticed the period-doubling bifurcation and explained why it happens. This suggests a route to chaos.
