Abstract

Proučavajući procese koji se odvijaju u jezgrama atoma možemo dobiti razne informacije o strukturi samih atoma i jezgri, kao i o procesima te interakcijama koji pogone kako život na Zemlji tako i cijeli svemir. U ovom diplomskom radu ćemo se prvenstveno baviti analizom podataka reakcije 12^C(n,p)12^B. Želimo razviti metodu za rekonstrukciju kutne raspodjele nastalih protona. Oblik kutne raspodjele nam može ukazati na karakteristike i prirodu samih reakcija. Predstavit Ćemo dvije metode... More rekonstrukcije kutne raspodjele, metodu direktne inverzije te metodu parcijalnih valova. Kod metode direktne inverzije sustav direktno invertiramo bez posebne parametrizacije kutne raspodjele, a kod metode parcijalnih valova pretpostavljamo da se kutna raspodjela može zapisati kao linearna kombinacija konačnog broja parcijalnih valova, odnosno Legendreovih polinoma te prilagodbom podataka dobijemo optimalan broj Legendreovih polinoma i iznose odgovarajućih koeficijenata. Kako bismo imali potpunu kontrolu nad metodama testirat ćemo ih nad podatcima koje dobijemo iz simulacije reakcije 12^C(n,p)12^B, odnosno njenih izlaznih produkata. Abstract (english)

By studying processes which take place inside nucleus of the atom, or during nuclear reactions, we can extract all sorts of information about the structure of atoms and nuclei, processes and interactions that drive the life on Earth as well as the whole universe. In this thesis we will primarily deal with data analysis of the 12^C(n,p)12^B reaction. Our main goal is to develop a method for reconstructing the angular distribution of the created protons. The shape of angular... More distribution can suggest the nature of physical processes undergone during reactions. We will present two methods for reconstructing the angular distribution, direct inversion method and partial waves method. In direct inversion method we fit the model to the data without any parameterization of the angular distribution. In partial waves method we assume that the angular distribution can be expressed as a linear combination of finite number of partial waves, that is Legendre polynomials. Then by fitting the data, we get the optimal number of Legendre polynomials and their respective coefficients. In order to have complete control over the methods, we will simulate the products of 12^C(n,p)123 B reaction and then test the methods on that simulated data.
