Abstract
Izraz „orašasti plodovi“ često susrećemo u svakodnevnom životu, no s botaničkog aspekta mnogi tako nazvani plodovi zapravo su neispravno stavljeni u kategoriju oraha (tj. orašastih plodova). Ovim radom pobliže je proučena spomenuta pojava te su navedene karakteristike koje svaki plod mora imati da bi zaista mogao biti nazvan orahom. U radu je opisano nekoliko za ljude prehrambeno najvažnijih pravih oraha te je predstavljen kratki povijesni značaj opisanih vrsta. Osim toga, iznesena su detaljna objašnjenja i razlozi zašto neki plodovi koje komercijalno poznajemo pod nazivom 'orašasti plodovi' to zapravo nisu.
Abstract (english)
We often encounter the term "nuts" in everyday life, but from a botanical point of view, many fruits so called are actually incorrectly classified as nuts (i.e. nuts). In this paper, the aforementioned phenomenon was studied in more detail, and the characteristics that each fruit must have in order to really be called a nut are listed. The paper describes several real walnuts, the most important for human nutrition, and presents a brief historical significance of the described species. In addition, there are detailed explanations and reasons why some fruits that we commercially know as 'nuts' are actually not.
