Abstract

Ovaj rad kratki je pregled o vrsti zlatni čagalj (Canis aureus). Dotiče se vanjskog opisa vrste,
njihove rasprostranjenosti u svijetu i kod nas, raznih prilagodbi zbog kojih je tako uspješan u
ekspanziji, različite genetičke strukture populacija iz Dalmacije i Slavonije te upravljanja tom
vrstom u Hrvatskoj. Prikazuje se njihova obiteljska struktura i način života. Također, rad
otvara pitanje koliko su čagljevi zapravo korisni ili štetni za nas i okoliš.

Abstract (english)

This study is a brief overview of the golden jackal (Canis aureus). It examines the physical
traits of the species, its national and global distribution, various adaptations that have enabled
its successful range expansion, different genetic structure of populations from Dalmatia and
Slavonia, and its management in Croatia. The family structure and life are also examined.
Further, the study addressed whether jackals are beneficial or harmful to humans and the
environment.
