Abstract

Rekonstrukcija paleookoliša u Koločepskom kanalu krajem pleistocena i u holocenu temelji se na interpretaciji akustičnih profila visoke rezolucije u odnosu na globalnu krivulju promjene morske razine tijekom toga vremena. Na akustičnim profilima su interpretirane tri seizmostratigrafske sekvencije, koje su potom podijeljene u devet akustičnih jedinica. Postanak tih jedinica može se povezati s izmjenom morskih i kopnenih taložnih okoliša. Na temelju odredbe starosti metodom AMS 14C na dva uzorka iz jezgre sedimenta određena je njihova starost od 9 669 Cal BP na dubini od 157-158 cm i starost od 12 170 Cal BP na dubini od 257,5-253,5 cm. Današnje vrulje koje su prisutne na području Doli -Slano su tijekom posljednjeg glacijalnog maksimuma (LGM) bili izvori rijeka koje su u to vrijeme erodirale velike količine prethodno istaloženih sedimenta iz centralnog dijela kanala, a zajedno su tvorile „Olipsku rijeku“. Tektonska aktivnost je imala utjecaj na deformaciju naslaga seizmostratigrafske sekvencije S.S.S.3 prije LGM-a dok u mlađim naslagama ta aktivnost nije zabilježena. Južni dio Koločepskog kanala je i danas tektonski aktivan što se uočava pojavom strukturnog bloka koji je za 1,5 m izdignut u odnosu na okolno morsko dno.

Abstract (english)

The reconstruction of paleoenvironments in the Koločep channel during Late Pleistocene and Holocene is based on interpretation of high-resolution acoustic profiles, as well as the global sea level curve. Three seismostratigraphic sequences were interpreted on the acoustic profiles, which are subdivided into nine acoustic units. The origin of these units can be interpreted as a change of marine and terrestrial environments. Based on the dating of two samples from the sediment core using the AMS 14C method, ages of 9 669 Cal BP at a depth of 157-158 cm and 12 170 Cal BP at a depth of 257.5-253.5 cm were obtained. Recent “vruljas” (submarine springs) that are present in the area Doli-Slano were once the springs of the rivers that formed the "Olipa river" during the LGM, and thus eroded large amounts of sediment from the central part of the channel. Tectonic activity had an impact on the seismostratigraphic sequence S.S.S.3 while the same activity is not observed in younger deposits. The southern part of the channel is tectonically still active today, as evidenced by a structural block that is uplifted for 1.5 m with respect to the surrounding seabed.
