Abstract

Diplomski rad se sastoji od eksperimentalnog i metodičkog dijela. U eksperimentalnom dijelu istražena je adsorpcija poli(N-etil-4-vinilpiridinijeva) (P4VP) kationa i poli(natrijeva-4-stiren sulfonatnog) polianiona (PSS) na koloidne nanočestice SiO2. Koloidne čestice prije i nakon adsorpcije karakterizirane su metodom elektroforeze i dinamičkog raspršenja svjetlosti. Adsorpcija P4VP kationa na čestice SiO2 je analizirana primjenom modela Langmuirove i Freundlichove adsorpcijske izoterme. Konačan rezultat pokazuje ograničenu primjenjivost ovih modela na adsorpciju P4VP kationa na koloidne čestice SiO2.
U metodičkom dijelu provedeno je preliminarno istraživanje o postojanju i rasponu učeničkih alternativnih koncepcija u okviru teme elektrokemija. Uzorak ispitanika činili su učenici dva razreda jedne zagrebačke srednje škole u čijem su školskom kurikulumu uvrštene laboratorijske vježbe iz nastave kemije. Za potrebe istraživanja kreiran je višeslojni test. Potvrđeno je da i u preliminarnoj fazi oblikovanja predloženi test može poslužiti kao koristan alat u otkrivanju učeničkih pogrešnih konceptualnih shvaćanja elektrokemije.

Abstract (english)

This Master Thesis consists of the experimental and the methodological part. In the experimental part of the Thesis, the adsorption process of poly(N-ethyl-4-vinylpyridine) cations (P4VP) and poly(sodium-4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS) anions onto silica nanoparticles was investigated. Silica nanoparticles with adsorbed polyelectrolyte were characterized using electrophoretic and dynamic light scattering methods. The adsorption process of P4VP cations was analyzed using Langmuir adsorption model and Freundlich adsorption model. Analysis show limited applicability of used models for adsorption process of P4VP cations onto colloidal silica particles.
In the methodological part of the Thesis a preliminary research was conducted on the existence and range of students` alternative conceptions within the topic of electrochemistry. The test was conducted on a group of students from two classes of one highschool in Zagreb, whose school curriculum included laboratory exercises from chemistry classes. For the purpose of the research, four tier test was made. It was confirmed that even in the preliminary phase, the proposed test can serve as a useful tool in revealing students` conceptual misconceptions of electrochemistry.
