Abstract

U ovom diplomskom radu istraživane su granulometrijske karakteristike sedimenta iz uvala Funtana i Saline koje se nalaze na zapadnoj obali Istarskog poluotoka. Istraživanje je rađeno na 5 sedimentnih jezgara od kojih su 3 uzete u uvali Funtana, a 2 u uvali Saline. Metode koje su se koristile obuhvaćale su promatranje uzoraka svjetlosnom lupom, metodu mokrog sijanja i analizu sedigrafom. Dobiveni rezultati prikazani su pomoću tablica, trokomponentnih dijagrama te kumulativnih krivulja. U završnom dijelu rada prikazana je granulometrijska analiza rezultata, međusobna usporedba rezultata te podrijetlo i sastav sedimenta u uvalama Funtana i Saline. Analizom rezultata utvrđeno je da u sedimentima uvale Funtana prevladava pješčana frakcija, a u uvali Saline frakcija mulja. Prilikom promatranja uzoraka svjetlosnom lupom uočeno je da je sediment u obje uvale miješanog biogenog i terigenog podrijetla. Na raspored i sastav sedimenata utječe rasprostranjenost alge Caulerpa racemosa, donos čestica eolskim putem i antropogenom djelatnošću u obje uvale te donos čestica vodotocima, poglavito u uvali Saline.

Abstract (english)

This master thesis investigated granulometric characteristics of sediments in Funtana and Saline bays which are located on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The study was made on 5 sediment cores of which 3 were taken in Funtana bay and 2 in Saline bay. Methods which were used are microscopical examination, wet-sieving method and sedigraph analysis. Results which were obtained are presented with tables, gravel-sand-mud diagrams and cumulative curves. In the final part of this master thesis is displayed granulometric analysis of results, comparison between the results and origin and composition of sediments in Funtana and Saline bays. Analysis of the results showed that in sediments of Funtana bay fraction of sand is the dominant fraction and in Saline bay dominant fraction is mud. During the microscopical examination it was observed that sediment from both bays is of mixed biogenic and terrestrial origin. Placement and composition of sediments is influenced by distribution of Caulerpa racemosa algae, transport of particles by wind and antropogenic activities in both bays and transport of particles by watercourses, especially in Saline bay.
