Abstract
Komercijalnom upotrebom nuklearnih elektrana u proizvodnji električne energije u javnosti je podignuto pitanje odlaganja proizvedenog radioaktivnog otpada. Pripovršinsko se odlaganje trenutno smatra najsigurnijom i najisplativijom metodom odlaganja niskoradioaktivnog otpada. U ovome je radu iznesena analiza inženjerske izvedbe pripovršinskih odlagališta kao funkcija uspostavljanja njihove sigurnosti, razmatrani su potencijalni radiološki i neradiološki utjecaji pripovršinskih odlagališta na ekosustave i čovjeka te je prikazana upotreba geografskih informacijskih sustava kao geografskog pristupa rješavanju problema lokacije pripovršinskog odlagališta radioaktivnog otpada.
Abstract (english)
The commercial use of nuclear power plants in the production of electricity has raised the issue of the disposal of produced radioactive waste in the public. The near surface disposal is currently considered to be the safest and the most cost-efficient method of the disposal of low-level waste. This paper analyzes the engeneering execution of near-surface disposal sites as a function of establishing their safety, consideres the potential radiological and non-radiological impacts of near-surface disposal sites on ecosystems and humans, and presents the use of geographic information systems as a geographic approach to adressing the problems of siting near surface radioactive waste disposal sites.
